A dedication to the best parents I could wish for ...
Growing up, my parents always believed in education and ingrained in us the reasons why education changes lives for the better.
My father, Ganesan, was a brilliant visionary and wanted his children to have a better life than he could ever have imagined for himself; to acquire general knowledge and become well rounded people.
My mom, Lakshmi, was a supporter of education and always made sure we had extra curricular activities; Sports, poetry recitals, school plays, to name a few.
My sister, Vijayakalyani, was the first ever woman to get her college graduate degree in our family and she blazed the trail for the rest of us to follow.
Our house was filled with books - Dictionaries, Popular Science, Britannica Encyclopedias, Ladybirds, Quiz books - and we had a huge library even before we had any furniture. We also had plenty of comics books from Hindu mythology (Amar Chithra Katha) to Tintin and Asterix to Phantom and Flash and Mandrake. I remember the stories vividly decades later and learned more about history, geography and world wisdom from them.
My parents sent us to the best schools so we could have all the tools to succeed even if it meant sacrificing their own needs and wants. Without their selflessness and vision, I would not have the means or the ability to give back in any way.
I wanted to honor the enormous sacrifices they made all their lives to give us everything. This is, therefore, our family legacy because we truly believe that EDUCATION CHANGES LIVES!
