PCVC creates and extends support for women and queer individuals affected by domestic and interpersonal violence. They are a rights-based organization that strongly believe in a survivor-centric approach.
PCVC provides emergency as well as long-term rehabilitative support that transforms GBV (gender-based violence) survivors into "thrivers".
This includes the creation of an Employment Empowerment Hub ("Vidhai - Nurturing Growth") to help these thrivers acquire the life skills they need to gain independence. "Vidhai" translates to "seedling" in English.
PCVC have been doing this for over 25 years and GFEF is proud to help them in the creation and running of "Vidhai".
Strings of Mercy is a non-profit organization in the State of GA (USA) created to raise awareness of Live Therapeutic Music (LTM) and partner with local health care organizations for LTM services. (Learn more about LTM here)
LTM is a non-pharmacologic intervention that uses live acoustic music tailored to the immediate needs of patients; this helps reduce anxiety, agitation, pain, respiratory distress and sleep deprivation. LTM is delivered by Certified Music Practitioners (CMPs) who are specially trained to adjust music in real time based on patient responses. (Learn about CMP certification at MHTP.org)
Strings of Mercy works to raise awareness of LTM by educating health institutions and also provides scholarships for musicians wishing to become CMPs. GFEF is honored and privileged to partner with them to help fund the scholarships.
We worked on this project to educate the girls in a remote village (Lourdepuram) in Kerala for over a year. Many of these students will use their higher education to go on to college or a vocation and build their lives. Our main goal was to make sure that the cost of higher education was not a financial burden for their families.
